How to use Compress PDF

  1. Choose a PDF and a compression level.
  2. Process the file, compare its resulting size, and download it if it meets your needs.

Things to check

Compression can affect image quality. Review the result before sharing it.

Example task: Meet an attachment limit without making a scan unreadable

Start from the original PDF and try a compression level. Compare the resulting size with the receiving service’s limit rather than assuming a smaller preview is enough.

Check the result: Read the smallest text and inspect important diagrams in the exported PDF. Choose the least aggressive setting that meets your requirement.

Common questions and troubleshooting

Why is the compressed PDF still above my upload limit?

Some PDFs are already efficiently compressed. Keep the original and compare another compression level, inspecting small lettering and diagrams each time. If size remains too high, remove unnecessary pages or ask the receiving service about another delivery method. Repeated compression cannot guarantee a particular size.
