Practical guide
Use everyday tools with the right units, dates, and checks
Small tools are useful when you know exactly what goes in and what the result means. A code must scan in its real setting, a percentage needs a defined base value, and a converted time needs a date and location. These checks prevent common errors that a correct-looking result can hide.
Test the content and the scan, not just the picture
A QR code encodes the content you enter. For a website link, use the complete intended URL and open it yourself before generating the code. After downloading, scan the image and check that it opens the right destination. A successful scan does not prove that the destination is safe, permanent, or owned by the person distributing the code.
Printed codes need adequate contrast, clear surrounding space, and a size suitable for the scanning distance. Test the actual printed version, not only the on-screen preview. A downloaded code does not automatically provide an editable destination: to change where a printed link leads, you need to control the linked page or redirect. Toolza’s generator does not provide a hosted dynamic-link management service.
Use a barcode format accepted by your system
CODE128, CODE39, EAN-13, and UPC-A have different rules and use cases. Choose the format required by the inventory system, retailer, or scanner, then enter a value that meets its validation requirements. Do not choose a format only because its preview looks familiar.
Generating a barcode image does not allocate an official product identifier or register your product with a retailer. If your distribution channel requires an assigned identifier, obtain it through the appropriate process first. Check the downloaded image with the intended scanner and verify that the decoded value matches the item record, including any leading zeros.
Define the base value and units before calculating
“What is 20% of 100?” and “What percentage is 20 of 100?” are related but different questions. Percentage change uses the original value as its base. A decrease and a later increase of the same percentage generally do not cancel out because the second calculation starts from a different amount.
For Unit Converter, select both the quantity category and the source and destination units. Temperature conversions, for example, include an offset rather than only a scale factor. Check whether the receiving system expects a particular unit definition or number of decimal places. Browser calculation is useful for everyday work, but safety-critical, regulated, or financial results deserve an independent check.
Include the date in time conversions and keep passwords private
Time-zone conversion needs a date as well as a clock time because daylight-saving rules can change the difference between two locations. Check the converted calendar day, not just the hour: a late meeting in one location may fall on the next day elsewhere. For age calculations, verify the birth date and comparison date; legal or administrative age rules may require a different convention.
Password Generator creates values locally in your browser. Use a unique password for each account, save it in a password manager, and do not paste it into public notes or screenshots. A generated password does not protect against phishing or replace multifactor authentication. Keep a countdown page open while relying on it; browser suspension, a closed tab, or device behavior can affect its updates and alerts.
Example: understand why a 20% drop needs a 25% recovery
An illustrative value falls from 100 to 80. You want to calculate the decrease and then the increase needed to return to 100.
- For the decrease, divide the difference of 20 by the original 100: the decrease is 20%.
- For the recovery, use 80 as the new base and divide the increase of 20 by 80: the increase is 25%.
- Check the result with arithmetic: 80 × 1.25 = 100.
- When reporting the figures, state the starting and ending values so the percentage has context.
The two percentages differ because their base values differ. Use the percentage-change mode for the direction of change you actually need.
Common questions and problems
Can I edit a QR code after printing it?
The printed pattern remains unchanged. If it contains a URL you control, you may be able to update that page or its redirect. That is different from editing the code itself. Test the destination before printing and do not assume the generator supplies a dynamic redirect service.
Why did the converted meeting time change on another date?
The selected locations may observe different daylight-saving schedules. Their time difference is not necessarily constant throughout the year. Convert the actual meeting date and confirm the calendar day and local time with participants.
Can Random Number Generator certify a draw or lottery?
No. A browser tool does not provide certified draw procedures, an audit trail, or regulatory approval. Use it for ordinary random selections where appropriate, not as proof that a regulated lottery, gambling system, or official draw meets its requirements.
