How to use Percentage Calculator
- Choose the percentage calculation you need.
- Enter the requested values and check the result and calculation context.
Example task: Describe a change from one amount to another
A change from 120 to 150 is an increase of 30 relative to the original 120, or 25%. Use the calculation mode that matches the question you need to answer.
Check the result: State the base and direction of change. Returning from 150 to 120 is a 20% decrease, not a 25% decrease.

Common questions and troubleshooting
Why is a 20% increase not cancelled by a 20% decrease?
The second percentage uses a different base. Starting at 100, a 20% increase gives 120; a 20% decrease from 120 gives 96. State the starting value and direction when reporting changes. Choose the calculation mode that matches your question rather than treating every percentage as interchangeable.
