How to use Image Color Picker

  1. Load an image into the picker.
  2. Select a point in the image to view its sampled color values.

Example task: Find a color used in a graphic

Sample a point inside a flat-color region rather than on an antialiased edge. Use the displayed HEX or RGB value as a starting point in your design application.

Check the result: Neighboring pixels in a photo or compressed graphic may have different values. Sample several points if you are trying to identify a consistent background color.

Common questions and troubleshooting

Why does the sampled color differ from what I see on another screen?

The picker reports the selected pixel, while display settings and color management can change its appearance. Shadows, antialiasing, and compression can also create neighboring shades. Sample a flat area rather than an edge and compare several points when you need a representative color.
