How to use Sentence Counter

  1. Paste or type the text you want to inspect.
  2. Review the sentence count and displayed text statistics.

Things to check

Abbreviations and unusual punctuation can affect automatic sentence detection.

Example task: Find sentences that may be too long for the reader

Review the sentence-length statistics in a passage. A straightforward example, “Start now. Check later.” contains two sentences with clear terminal punctuation.

Check the result: Inspect abbreviations, quotations, and unusual punctuation manually. A sentence count is a structural aid, not a judgment of clarity or grammatical correctness.

Common questions and troubleshooting

Why are abbreviations or quoted sentences counted unexpectedly?

Sentence detection uses punctuation patterns and can mistake an abbreviation or decimal for a boundary. Read the passage alongside the statistics and manually inspect ambiguous cases. A shorter average sentence length does not automatically mean clearer writing, and this tool does not assess argument quality.
