How to use Remove Duplicate Lines

  1. Paste a list or text with one item per line.
  2. Remove repeated lines and review the resulting list.

Things to check

Check how blank lines and differences in spacing or letter case are handled for your list.

Example task: Keep one copy of each repeated list entry

For a list with red, blue, and red on separate lines, remove the repeated red. Decide whether capitalization and surrounding spaces should affect matching.

Check the result: Confirm that both distinct entries remain. Do not apply the same cleanup blindly to a transcript, poem, or record where repetition has meaning.

Best for

Deduplicating lists arranged one item per line

What it supports

Multiline text; case matching and optional whitespace trimming

What you get

Deduplicated lines and a removed-duplicates count

Common questions and troubleshooting

Why do two lines that look the same remain in the result?

Capitalization and surrounding whitespace may make lines different under the selected options. Choose case matching and trimming deliberately, then check which entries were removed. Keep an original copy when repeated lines represent separate transactions, events, or meaningful repetition rather than unwanted duplicates.
