How to use Text Sorter
- Paste the lines you want sorted.
- Choose an ordering option and review the reordered list.
Things to check
Sorting changes line order; keep a copy of the original if its sequence matters.
Example task: Order a list of numeric values numerically
For lines containing 10, 2, and 1, choose numeric ascending order rather than alphabetical order. The intended numeric sequence is 1, 2, 10.
Check the result: Mixed labels and numbers may not sort as you expect. Keep the original if the order carries chronology, priority, or other meaning.
Best for
Reordering lines by text, length, number, or position
What it supports
Lines; alphabetical, length, numeric, shuffle, reverse, case, and deduplication options
What you get
Reordered lines for copying or download
Common questions and troubleshooting
Why does alphabetical sorting put 10 before 2?
Alphabetical order compares characters, while numeric order compares values. Choose numeric sorting for lines that contain numbers and review mixed labels separately. Do not sort a transcript or chronological record unless you intend to discard its original sequence. Save a source copy before reordering.
